Brussels, Belgium — The International Antimony Oxide Industry Association (IAOIA) has announced that the first meeting of the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals substances (REACH) antimony consortium is scheduled for January 30, 2008 in Paris.

Participation in REACH antimony consortium meetings will provide the necessary information for producers, importers, exporters and users of antimony compounds in order to remain on the EU market, said IAOIA. Members are also expected to help generate scientific data for specific antimony compounds.

REACH questionnaires have been sent out to producers and importers of antimony compounds to identify the "sameness" of the antimony compounds, the tonnages to register and the number of companies. IAOIA encourages producers and importers to complete the REACH questionnaire and return it to the Secretary-General of IAOIA before December 7, 2007. IAOIA provides regular updates on the EU risk assessment of antimony trioxide.
