LONDON Revenue from application-specific ICs and application-specific standard products is set to increase by 14.4 percent in 2010, to $93.3 billion, according to Gartner analyst Bryan Lewis.
However, this is a slower rate of increase than the overall semiconductor market which Gartner sees growing 20 percent in 2010 and which IC Insights has recently evaluated as being on a 27 percent run rate.
The implication is therefore clear that the significance of ASIC and ASSPs is set to diminish. Lewis said ASIC/ASSP market will continue to grow through 2014 when it will reach an annual market size of $116.1 billion. This equates to a compound annual growth rate of 5.6 percent.
