Avnet creates new unit for embedded applications

Avnet Inc. has created a new division to service the embedded solutions market and has named industry veteran Jeff Ittel to manage the business.

The company said the embedded solutions unit, a division of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, would "focus on providing solutions for customers in the Americas region" and "offer such products as single board computers, storage products drives, flat panels, operating systems and integration services."

Avnet said it established Avnet Embedded in response to growing demand for technology solutions required in embedded applications. The creation of the new business division would enable Avnet "help our customers get their products to market faster at a lower cost," Ittel said in a statement.

"In the past few years, we have seen increased demand for these products from our customers across multiple industries, and, as that trend continues, we want to intensify our focus in this area," he added.
